The Adventurers Backstory

How it all started

In the bustling heart of Waterdeep, where the shadows of towering spires stretch far into the cobblestone streets, there lies a tavern renowned across the realm: The Gilded Griffin. It was within its warm, lantern-lit confines that fate conspired to weave together the destinies of three unlikely companions.

Lucan meets Bara

Lucan Sagespirit, a half-elf Druid, had wandered into the city, heart heavy with loss. His home village, nestled in the embrace of the ancient forests to the south, had been reduced to ashes by an evil cult. Among the flames, he lost not just the echoes of his childhood but his beloved family dog, Sprig, a loyal companion who had been by his side through countless dawns and dusks. Seeking solace, or perhaps oblivion, Lucan found himself at the bar of The Gilded Griffin, nursing a pint of honeybrew ale.

Bara recruits Lucan

Beside him, a halfling by the name of Bara Dume shared his own tale of woe. Robbed and left for dead on a desolate highway by marauders under the sway of another cult leader, Bara’s journey from the rolling hills of his homeland had been brutally interrupted. His fiery spirit, undimmed by the ordeal, burned with a desire for retribution.

Bara Inspires

As they shared their stories, the air between them thickened with a mutual understanding of loss—and a growing thirst for vengeance. It was then that Beara, fueled by the potent brew and the camaraderie of shared sorrow, climbed atop a table. His voice, small but fierce, cut through the tavern’s din, “To those who’ve suffered at the hands of these cultists, I say no more! Who among you will stand with us against this tide of darkness?”

Bara Dume’s Call to Arms

Kirton answers the call

The tavern fell silent, all eyes turning to the figure now standing tall amidst the sea of tables. It was Kirton, the evening’s entertainer, Lute in one hand, dagger in the other, arms raised in aggression , a gleam of resolve in his eyes. With a flourish of his lute, he pledged his blade and song to their cause, “For justice, for vengeance, for adventure—I will join you!”

Offer of Reward

Moved by their determination, Xalvador Caskbow, the tavern’s owner and a brewmaster renowned throughout Waterdeep, approached the newly formed alliance. His face, usually warm with the glow of his bustling establishment, was shadowed with worry. “My daughter, lured by the false promises of a cult, has vanished,” he confessed, his voice heavy with unspoken fears. “Find her, convince her to return, and I shall reward you handsomely. One hundred and fifty gold pieces each await you upon her safe return.”

Xalvador offers Reward

With a mission now uniting them, Lucan, Beara, and Kiertan swore an oath. They would traverse the dangers of the North, confront the cult that had spread its malevolent roots through their lives, and bring Xalvador’s daughter back to the safety of The Gilded Griffin.

Thus, bound by loss but driven by hope, They set forth into the dawn, henceforth known as Bara’s Marauders. Little did they know, their journey would become the stuff of legends, a tale whispered in awe in the very halls of The Gilded Griffin for generations to come.
